NSTC Projects
The Optoelectronic Devices Laboratory has been continuously funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) of Taiwan since 1996, reflecting a long-standing record of competitive, peer-reviewed research support. Prof. Hwang has served as Principal Investigator on more than 30 NSTC-sponsored projects spanning general research grants, industry-academia collaboration programs, and postdoctoral talent recruitment schemes. Research themes have evolved from integrated optical waveguide modulators and polymer optics to liquid crystal fiber grating sensors, cholesteric liquid crystal polymer networks for biochemical sensing, and, most recently, advanced paper-based liquid crystal microfluidic platforms for the detection of urinary tract infection pathogens. This sustained funding underscores the laboratory's productivity and its pivotal role in advancing biomedical photonics and optoelectronic device technologies in Taiwan.
